Volunteer Spotlight: Nicole DePolo
NCHS would like to thank our wonderful volunteers for their support and service within our organization. We are united in our mission to deliver quality healthcare to North County. While we value all of our volunteers, each month we would like to feature one standout volunteer who went above and beyond their duties to help our patients and community.
Nicole DePolo, our Volunteer Spotlight for June, is a MyHealth champ. She started volunteering with NCHS five years ago when she first considering pursuing a career in healthcare. “My experiences working with NCHS inspired me to become a doctor,” stated Nicole.
As a volunteer she promotes and help patients sign up for MyHealth accounts, our new online patient portal. She educates patients about the portals functionality, purpose and ease of use. On a typical workday she is stationed at one of our ten clinics in the North County visiting with patients while they wait to see their providers.
When asked about one of her most memorable experiences with a patient at NCHS, Nicole happily replied, “I reestablished access for a patient’s MyHealth account, who had been diagnosed with a seriously debilitating disease and she was able to view her most recent lab results.” Nicole continued to say, “The patient was thrilled to have this new and much more convenient way of viewing her results and managing her many referrals to specialists. Moments like this make me grateful for my opportunity to volunteer with NCHS and make a difference in patients’ lives.”
Nicole will be attending medical school this fall at George Washington University in Washington, DC. “This past year I returned to volunteer with NCHS in order to engage in community service during my gap year. I wanted to give back to the organization that taught me so much,” said Nicole.
Thank you Nicole for your wonder years of service. We wish you the best of luck in your journey to become a doctor!
